Pro-Israel Charities partner to Aid Israel’s needy
NEW YORK, ---- There are thousands of non-profit corporations within Israel and millions in the United States and around the world. These organizations have goals that may be similar to each other, yet most hardly work together to accomplish them and are hardly known outside of their local areas. However, when considering unique pro-Israel organizations established for charitable, educational, scientific and religious purposes one U.S based non-profit corporation is beginning to emerge with great support from other non-profits and interesting projects that aid global Jewish communities.
The Amariel Voluntary Israel Projects was founded in mid-2009 by philanthropist Yeshiyah Amariel and the Amariel Family with their headquarters in Riverdale, Illinois. By the end of 2009 the Amariel Voluntary Israel Projects had support from international scholars for their research department, endorsements and partnerships for their promotions of charity & volunteerism from well known Rabbis such as Rabbi Casper Funnye in Chicago and non-profit charities like Meir Panim in New York and Israel, Project Torah in South Africa, and Rabbi Avrohom Leventhal Executive Director of Lema’an Achai in Israel. Their name spread across the United States and Israel so much that the Amariel Voluntary Israel Projects website gained the attention of Jewish communities in 5 continents and over 14 countries.
There are several branches of Amariel’s non-profit corporation: a charity division; a research division and an educational division. What makes the Amariel VIP Corporation stand out is their belief in reaching out to the many similar non-profits and incorporating their mutual interest together to accomplish each department’s goals.
In addition, Amariel is offering qualified members a roll in their research division to attract top scholars and promote archaeological & genealogical research of the Israelite people. These scholars are signed up as volunteer members of the corporation and given Amariel VIP ID cards that contain their credentials and authorization as international representatives of the corporation. It is said that in certain places discounts may be offered to card carrying members depending upon the card or the agreements the Amariel Voluntary Israel Projects has with each of its partners in their own departments.
The central branch of the Amariel Voluntary Israel Projects (Amariel V.I.P) is entitled the Avi Institute for Advanced Israelite Studies, which was established in order to educate global citizens on the biblical concepts in classes teaching subjects such as Biblical Hebrew, Ancient Hebrew Torah, Israelite and Jewish culture and ancient agriculture cycles. They have partnered with the United Hebrew Cultural Centre, which teaches Modern Hebrew language class to use their facilities in Arad as one place of function for Avi Institute lessons and events. Plus, the Avi Institute extends its offer to universities and other educational organizations to teach and lecture on many subjects they offer concerning Israelite culture.
Nevertheless, the branch of Amariel V.I.P that has received the most support in the last 6 months has been its charity department. Yet this might be due to global economic tension and the need many in Israel have for more support. In South Africa the Amariel Voluntary Israel Projects has endorsed and partnered with “Project Torah” group, which is organized by its project manager Alon Asefovitz, and assists them in getting funds and support to send Jewish literature to various Jewish communities in countries like Indonesia, India, Spain, and etc. The Chabad House in Vietnam, which is run by shliach Rabbi Menachem Mendel Hartman, received literature for their Jewish library there. Rabbi Hartman thanked “Project Torah” on behalf of the Jewish Community in Vietnam, saying that “Rather than a place like Vietnam, it was said only in the Jewish State people need it more than here.” “…here is their only access to the world of Torah Judaism. The books must be used for the many tourists and visitors as well as the Jews living in Vietnam who desire to expand their knowledge depth of our holy Torah - the law of life. In particular the idea of enhancing the study of Torah among visitors is very important that the Torah is true of the Jewish connection with G-d.” He continues by expressing how they hope “Project Torah” continues to send books to Jews in places and for all Israel anywhere.” However, the Amariel Voluntary Israel Projects founder says that “The State of Israel has not been immune from the global economic crisis as job loses have sent many into poverty.”
According to reports from one of Israel’s leading charitable organizations, Meir Panim, over 1.63 million people currently live below the poverty line in Israel today – 777,400 of which are children. They have established soup kitchens all over the country in order to feed the hungry and family centres in order to help children and the elderly. Meanwhile, organizations like Lema’an Achai are attempting to raise $200,000 in order to feed the over 200 Jewish families that depend upon them. Thus, according to Yeshiyah Amariel “the Amariel Voluntary Israel Projects have offered these groups public support in order to boost there yearly volunteers and donations as a tactic to combat the effects current financial loses may have on the Israeli population.” “Rabbi Avrohom Leventhal, the Executive Director of Lema’an Achai, also told me in a letter he was willing to accept any assistance from the Amariel V.I.P Corporation in order to reach their goals” said Amariel.
Amariel’s strategy also inspired good endorsements from their partners like Meir Panim. Zev Nevo, Project Director for American Friends of Meir Panim said in a statement that their partnership is “vital to Meir Panim’s relief efforts in Israel, which provides food and social services to thousands of impoverished Israelis each day.” He applauds the warm?hearted efforts of Amariel Volunteer Israel Projects who promotes volunteerism and cultivates donations in support of the impoverished of Israel. He said. “Their efforts will go a long way to provide many needy Israeli children, and their families, relief from a life of hardships.”
In fall of 2009 Israeli government officials invited top non-profit corporation leaders, including Meir Panim representatives, to sit with them and congratulate their combined efforts to help the country’s needy during these difficult times. Mr. Amariel believes that “Regardless of the petty differences that divide our communities we must do what we can to help our brothers in need. I believe that is the best kind of mitzvah.” In order over come the massive amount of poverty that has plagued the country he says that international pro-Israel supporters should give, lift their voices and do what they can to help the country and other global communities.
